“Wild wold” è uno dei brani più conosciuti di Cat Stevens (al secolo Steven Demetre Georgiou), cantautore folk britannico che nel 1995 si sarebbe convertito all’Islam col nome di Yusuf Islam.
Il brano diede una grande notorietà al suo autore e raggiunse la posizione n° 11 della Billboard Hot 100 negli Stati Uniti.
Nel corso di una lunga intervista rilasciata a Billboard, Cat Stevens ha parlato, tra l’altro, del significato della canzone “Wilde world”, affermando che “Wild World’ è stata davvero la mia canzone di addio alla mia ragazza Patti D’Arbanville. Ci siamo divertiti un molto insieme, ma io iniziai a registrare e lei faceva la modella e semplicemente eravamo in due mondi diversi. E poiché avevo avuto esperienza sul cadere, sapevo che c’erano molti pericoli là fuori quindi è stato un po’ come me parlare a me stesso della mia seconda carriera che stavo per intraprendere e anche parlare con lei sulla sua carriera. Composto da Johann Pachelbel sul finire del 1600, il “Canone in RE maggiore” è sicuramente uno dei brani di musica classica più famosi al mondo. Riconoscibile fin dalle prime note, il suo titolo esatto dovrebbe essere “Canone e giga in re maggiore per tre violini e basso continuo”.

Due furono gli eventi che ispirarono Bobby Hebb per la creazione di questa canzone: l’assassinio del Presidente John Fitzgerald Kennedy (avvenuta il 22 novembre del 1963) e l’uccisione di suo fratello Harold fuori da un nightclub (avvenuta il giorno seguente).
